I remember the first day of class thinking how boring it was gonna be and how I didn't really want to read a bunch of novels that I would probably have no interest in. I'm glad I was wrong. If anything taking this class has made me want to read more. . . . .especially the rest of the Hunger Games trilogy! ;)
I have to say in the beginning when I first started to read Culture Jam it made me mad. I would disagree with the author so many times and didn't even wanna read it anymore. After awhile I started to think about what the author was exactly saying and I found myself starting to agree with Lasn with certain ideas. . . .even though it was generalized a lot.
That's what I loved about this class the most. It actually made me "think" about what I was reading and to take it from different angles and perspectives. I liked the fact that I had to stop, think, and question all of the readings. I've found myself now questioning the character's motives and decisions. Always asking 'why did they do that?' or 'why didn't they do this?' and really getting into the readings.
After all this I've realize just how much technology has impacted my life. I don't want our society to end up like Feed, even though it would be cool to be smart without trying. . .but i don't like the idea of a chip in my head or depending so much on it to the point where I'm considered dumb without it -_- . Or our society to end up like 1984, which would just be depressing and I would probably die because I wouldn't like big brother. Or even like Fahrenheit 451, where I just don't think book burning is smart. . .just dumb.
Overall I enjoyed this class and I've learned a lot from it. :)
