Blog #6 Big Brother

In the novel 'Big Brother' is basically the government. I think that 'Big Brother' actually exist today in the United States. Just not how it is in the book. In the novel 'Big Brother' controlled almost everything. Our government doesn't. We can have an opinion if we like the government or not without having serious consequences. The people in the novel however had no type of freedom. At least that what I think. The fact that they seem to have people undercover is crazy.
I think our society has no privacy. Well I wouldn't say absolutely none. Take the internet for example. Most people post everything on there. They post their thoughts, to what's going on with their lives, and even how they feel about certain things. Everything you put online isn't going to go away. Even after you delete it. All these personal and private things. . . .now on the internet. Or how about the whole tapping into our phones. I've heard it mentioned that the government can tap into our phone conversations and see us through satellites. I remember going to see the movie 'Colombiana' and i saw how the government tapped into phones and could tell where people were just like that. . . .that quick. I know its just a movie but still I think it holds some truth.
So no I don't think we have complete privacy in our society. As far as tapping into phone lines and finding where our locations are. . . .it can actually be useful to find people who's on the run from the law. So at the end of the day there is SOME good to it. But still I would want my privacy. I don't wanna be talking on the phone to someone and wondering if someone's listening to my conversation. Its just weird to me.
