Blog #8

I think its bad that our society craves violence and drama. We love to watch other people's drama. . .maybe because it's not us and brings some excitement knowing that. We love Jersey shore, Bad Girls Club, Basketball wives, etc because they are entertaining and fulfill our needs. A life that isn't ours and we can look at it and say 'glad that isn't me' and yet still find it enjoyable. As for violence, in a way I do think it's sickening that we go to movies and watch people get killed or murdered. A lot of people love thriller movies. But when it comes to real life situations we often talk down on it and say how messed up it is. Which it is. But what makes it so different? How can we go to movies and watch people get killed by Jason or some psycho serial killer and get a thrill off of that and yet when it happens in the real world we're disguised. I just think its weird when you think about it. The only difference I see is that one is fictional and one isn't. Either way we shouldn't get any joy off of violence. Sad thing is that we do. We like to see fights on tv and movies like Saw. I think we're never fully entertained. I think that's why shows are becoming more about the dramas and why movies are getting more violent and gruesome. The more drama the more they keep our attention. The more violent the more it keeps our attention.
When it comes to 15 minutes of fame, I think everyone wants to be famous or be rich. Reality tv is the easy way into that kind of lifestyle unless you marry someone rich. . .or famous. Any easy way we can become famous we will take it. And when we acquire that fame just for a little bit we work harder to keep at it, to stay in the spotlight. Everyone just wants that glamorous life.

grr. . . .I hope this made sense O_o
